King Princess covers Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun
After releasing their second album Hold On Baby, last year, King Princess stopped by triple j for their Like A Version series to play a cover of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun".
“It’s a song I’ve listened to since I was a little kid,” King Princess said of their decision to cover the song. “My parents saw them play Lollapalooza in ’92, and I think I like to revisit songs that meant a lot to me when I was a kid and inspired me to do music. I thought I could leave my mark on it".
Speeding it up by changing the drums to double time and leaning into the fastness of '90s beats, King Princess notes that the only similarity to the original is a "butchered version" of the guitar line which they play on keys.
King Princess recently released "The Bend", co-produced with Aaron Dessner, as part of NME and Bose's C23 mixtape.
