Khruangbin and Vieux Farka Touré share new track "Tongo Barra"
Khruangbin and Vieux Farka Touré have released new song "Tongo Barra" as the second outing from their collaborative album Ali.
Following last month's Ali album announcement with the lead single "Savanne", Khruangbin and Vieux Farka Touré have delivered a second track from the record titled "Tongo Barra".
Ali is a tribute to Vieux's late father Ali Farka Touré, and according to a press release, the joint album sees the artists "create a remembrance of Ali’s life, showcased in highlights and B-sides from his catalog where the quartet preserve the natural improvisation of Ali’s music and inject their own, too."
Touré says of the collaboration, "I want this album to convey love. It is about the love that Ali brought into the world. It is about the love that I have for him and that Khruangbin has for his music. It is about pouring your love into something old to make it new again."
We made this album to honor Ali's life and body of work," Khruangbin add. "We hope this collaboration enlightens more people to Ali's musical legacy."
"Tongo Barra" is out now. Khruangbin and Vieux Farka Touré's joint album Ali will arrive on 23 September via Dead Oceans, and is available to pre-order now.
