Kesha parts ways with both her label and management
As reported by Variety, Kesha has parted ways with her manager Dr. Luke, and his record lable, Kemosabe.
The publication reports that Kesha's contract with Dr Luke's – Łukasz Sebastian Gottwald – record label officially ended last week. Kesha was signed to Kemosabe, which is distributed by RCA Records, and managed by Vector Management (Allison Russell, Rage Against the Machine, Molly Tuttle).
The news comes just a few months after Kesha and Dr. Luke settled multiple lawsuits as a result of Kesha accusing him of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 2005. This resulted in him suing her for defamation. After ten years, the lawsuits were settled privately in June, with each party releasing a quote.
“Only God knows what happened that night,” Kesha wrote in her statement. “I have always said, I cannot recount everything that happened. I am looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one. I wish nothing but peace to all parties involved.”
Dr.Luke, maintained his innocence writing: “While I appreciate Kesha again acknowledging that she cannot recount what happened that night in 2005. I am absolutely certain that nothing happened. I never drugged or assaulted her and would never do that to anyone. For the sake of my family, I have vigorously fought to clear my name for nearly 10 years. It is time for me to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life," he said, later wishing her well.
Kesha released five full-length albums with Kemosabe – including her 2010 debut, Animal, and Gag Order which was released earlier this year – as well as three EPs throughout the ongoing lawsuits.
Neither Kesha nor Dr. Luke have posted an official statement.
