Kele Okereke teases new solo project with "Hometown Edge"
Bloc Party frontman Kele (Kele Okereke) has unveiled "Hometown Edge", as the first single from a brand new solo project due later this year.
His first solo release since 2023’s The Waves Pt. 2, "Hometown Edge" is the soundtrack to a late London adventure of Kele’s – a debauched night on which he allowed the city to guide him wherever it wanted to take him.
“I realise London has been a constant source of inspiration for me as a songwriter,” notes Kele. “In my writing it's always been there on the periphery, but it felt right doing something where my love for the city was front and centre. Over the years, life in the capital has shaped who I am and what I am, so it was nice to pay homage to that.”
Earlier this summer Bloc Party performed their biggest headline show to date, celebrating 20 years of the iconic album, Silent Alarm at a sold out Crystal Palace Park in London. The band also wrapped up a co-headline tour with Interpol in Australia and supported Paramore.
"Hometown Edge" is out now via KOLA Records / !K7.
