During an interview with Australian talk show The Project, Katy Perry reflected on how Madonna has impacted her career.
Katy Perry revealed that she owes part of her career to being co-signed by Madonna for her 2007 single, "Ur So Gay". She explained: “She actually shouted out my song and that was really the beginning of my career. That’s kind of what started to break me."
Referencing how Madonna has shaped the pop landscape, she continued: "Every female [artist] still needs to continue to say thank you” to Madonna. I’m 40 I still get to do music because of Madonna".
Katy Perry's album, 143, is out now.
