Watch Kara Jackson cover Karen Dalton for Best Fit's secret sessions at End of the Road

10 November 2023, 12:00 | Written by The Line of Best Fit

Ahead of her set at End of the Road Festival back in September, Illinois-born poet and musician Kara Jackson played a Best Fit secret session which included a spine-tingling version of "Right, Wrong or Ready" by the legendary Karen Dalton.

The song - written by Major Wiley - first appeared on Dalton's seminal 1969 debut It's So Hard to Tell Who's Going to Love You the Best. Like Dalton, Jackson's debut Why Does the Earth Give Us People to Love? sees the launch of a singular talent and remains among our favourite records this year. Catch her in the capital this weekend as part of Pitchfork London and watch the full session below.

Jackson joined the likes of Samia, Angel Olsen, Future Islands, Caitlin Rose and The Anchoress who all played for Best Fit's Secret Sessions this weekend. The sessions have become a key part of End of the Road each year, bringing together artists from across the line-up in a series of short sets, exclusive covers, collaborations, and live interviews and Q&As.

Past years in the secret sessions have seen performances from Lucy Dacus, Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, Kurt Vile, Moses Sumney, Alex Cameron, Laura Marling, Patti Smith, and Frightened Rabbit - who played a now iconic version of "The Modern Leper".

Tickets for End of the Road Festival 2024 are onsale now from endoftheroadfestival.com/tickets. Kara Jackson plays Kings Place in London tomorrow (11 November) as part of Pitchfork London.
