Kali Uchis announces her second album sung entirely in Spanish, Orquídeas
Grammy-winning artist Kali Uchis has announced her fourth studio album, Orquídeas, which is also her second to be sung entirely in the Spanish language.
In August, Uchis kicked off this new era of music with “Muñekita,” featuring Dominican dembow singer El Alfa and JT from City Girls.
"The orchid is the national flower of Colombia, and we have more species of orchid than anywhere on earth,” Uchis says. “I always felt distinctly intrigued and magnetized by the flower. This album is inspired by the timeless, eerie, mystic, striking, graceful and sensual allure of the orchid. With this vast scope of fresh energy, I wish to re-define the way we look at Latinas in music.”
Orquídeas is set to follow on from Red Moon in Venus. The album became her first Top Ten charting album after debuting at number four on the Billboard 200. It also features the hit single “Moonlight” and collaborations with Summer Walker, Don Toliver and Omar Apollo.
Her last entirely Spanish album was 2020's Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios)
Orquídeas is set for release on 12 January 2024, and is available to pre-order now.
