Joyeria shares new single “The Curse” ahead of anti-streaming debut album Decay Decay Decay

London-via-Canada artist Joyeria has released a new track, “The Curse”, the third to emerge from his anticipated debut album Decay Decay Decay, which will bypass streaming services entirely, appearing only on physical formats and digital download through Bandcamp.

“You can’t bypass the work and the mess it takes to be human,” Joy, whose real name is private, says of the track. “It feels more and more as though the world at large is trying to force a correlation between wealth and intelligence, or value and monetary gain - but this is all a lie… it’s a misconception about what humanity is and what it is about life that creates value for those who participate in it.”

The decision to withhold the full album from streaming is explained with similar candour. “I can’t name a single system in any industry where the end goal of that system is the monetisation of the user, and that system remains democratic,” Joy argues. “If the system only rewards money and nepotism, it also means it can’t be a meritocracy - so it therefore has no real artistic value.” A limited vinyl bundle with a companion poetry book and an original drawing will be stocked by Rough Trade, while standard vinyl, CD, cassette and downloads will be available via the artist’s Bandcamp.

Decay Decay Decay was recorded to 16-track reel-to-reel tape at Radlicks Studios in London in March 2026, with no computers used during the writing, recording, or mixing. Its ten tracks orbit what Joy describes as “three faces of ruin: the body’s failure, the world’s erosion, and the mind’s slide into atrophy.”

Joyeria broke through with two EPs on the Speedy Wunderground label - FIM and Graceful Degradation - where producer Dan Carey captured the project’s signature blend of high-tension guitars and deadpan delivery. Born in Poland, raised in Canada, and having been on London’s DIY fringes for the last decade, Joy has played slots at Mutations Festival, The Great Escape, Green Man, and SXSW.

A handful of dates have been confirmed for August, including an album launch at The Windmill in London on 5 August, an in-store at Rough Trade Denmark Street on 6 August, and a Berlin show at Rough Trade on 8 August.
