Joyce Manor announce new album, I Used To Go To This Bar

08 October 2025, 11:29 | Written by Kayla Sandiford

Joyce Manor have announced their forthcoming seventh album, I Used To Go To This Bar, alongside the release of new single "Well, Whatever It Was".

The California trio, formed of frontperson Barry Johnson, guitarist Chase Knobbe, and bassist Matt Ebert, are set to release their first album in three years, I Used To Go To This Bar. "Well, Whatever It Was" arrives as the lead single. It's accompanied by a video directed by Lance Bangs, which sees the band parody The Great British Bake Off, featuring a cast of comedians and musicians who pose as UK rockstars.

“‘Well, Whatever It Was’ has got to be one of the most Southern California-sounding songs ever recorded. I hear Jane’s Addiction in the verses, Beach Boys / Weezer in the chorus, and RHCP in the outro. It was literally produced by the guy from Bad Religion. Everyone was just firing on all cylinders for this one. Joey Waronker’s drumming, TLA’s mix, and Lenny Castro’s percussion all just sent it to the end zone. This song would go insanely hard in a Shrek film,” Johnson says of the new track.

I Used To Go To This Bar follows the release of the band's 2022 LP 40 oz. to Fresno and a lengthy touring schedule, during which they collaborated with and toured alongside Weezer, selling out a handful of California venues. Joyce Manor are due to hit the road for a UK/EU tour starting this month, stopping in Bristol (22 October), Glasgow (23 October), London (25 October), and Leeds (26 October).
