Jordan Rakei details seventh album, A Safe Place To Be Wild
Jordan Rakei has announced his seventh album, A Safe Place To Be Wild, released lead single, "Enemies", and shared plans for his biggest UK/EU headline tour to date.
A Safe Place To Be Wild follows Rakei's 2024 album The Loop and his collaborative Between Us EP, released back in April. "Enemies" arrives as the first preview of the album, with a 1970s psych-soul sound.
Discussing the track, Rakei shares: "'Enemies' has a playful, almost arrogant energy to it, not from bitterness, but from self-confidence. It's an ownership song about not taking any more crap, rising above past dynamics, and turning all of that into positive energy. It's dedicated to all the enemies of my past, haha.”
A Safe Place To Be Wild sees Rakei explore self-acceptance, vulnerability and creative freedom, and is described as his most "instinctive and fearless" work to date. In support of the album, he'll be touring the United Kingdom and Europe next year, beginning in Stockholm on 27 March, with further stops in Copenhagen, Berlin, Milan, Paris, and more. The UK leg will kick off in Bristol at Bristol Beacon on 16 April, followed by Manchester's Albert Hall (17 April) and London's Alexandra Palace (24 April), with support from singer-songwriter Olive Jones across the three dates.
