Johnny Marr issues call to arms with new song, "It's Time"
Johnny Marr has released "It's Time", the newest single to be lifted from his upcoming album The Age Of Everything, due in October.
Following previous singles "Spin" and "Ophelia", "It's Time" was first premiered on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show this morning and is described as a "call to arms" in the face of the corruption and cynicism that we endure today.
Speaking about the track, Marr explains: "'It's Time' is my way of singing about some worldly issues but finding defiance, in idealism. I wanted a lyric that matched the exuberance of the music but is actually about resisting cynicism and corruption: “Everybody ain't making it, change the weather and breaking it. Mobilise to know the truth. Open eyes to know the truth.” I guess it's about the assholes with dodgy views.”
The Age Of Everything is released on 2 October via BMG
