jo from school announces debut EP, Grace, Flair & Distance
Recent Chess Club Records signee jo from school — the project of North London artist Jo Geller — has announced her debut EP, Grace, Flair & Distance, and shared new single "Julia Roberts".
"Julia Roberts" follows jo from school's debut single, "Chicken", released in May. The song, produced by Rich Cooper (CMAT, Billie Marten), was inspired by what is described by a "memorable" encounter that Geller had on the tube.
Speaking about the song, she explains, “I wrote this song after a brief interaction with a man on the tube. It brought me an out-of-body thought of not recognising who you are and how to immerse yourself in living. I tried this song out for the first time with the band in rehearsal for Left of the Dial last year and it stopped us all in our tracks. I don’t usually make this much noise, so it felt new and weird, but also very natural.”
Grace, Flair & Distance features six tracks, with the EP's release following appearances at Rotterdam’s Left of The Dial festival and dates in support of Daffo and TTSSFU last year. jo from school is also set to return to the road for a UK and European tour in support of Skullcrusher, with remaining dates in Paris, Antwerp, London, and more.
