Jimmy Eat World announce Bleed American 25th anniversary tour

Emo pioneers Jimmy Eat World have announced a major tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their fourth studio album, Bleed American.

Bleed American, first released in 2001, is regarded as the album that propelled Jimmy Eat World into global recognition as a key figure across emo, pop-punk, and alternative rock circles.

Beyond that, the album saw the Arizona-born band break into the mainstream, with their single "The Middle" charting No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, while being featured in films and TV shows and ultimately becoming a staple of early 2000s alt-rock.

Today, the quartet announce that they will be commemorating 25 years of Bleed American with an extensive headline tour beginning on 9 June with a show at Denver, Colorado's iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre. They will continue across North America throughout June and July, but will head over to the UK in August for previously announced shows in Halifax (14 August), Cardiff (15 August), and London (16 August), where they will play their biggest UK headline show yet at Gunnersbury Park.

After a few more shows in the United States and Canada, Jimmy Eat World will conclude in November at Vans Warped Tour in Orlando, Florida, marking the band's momentous return to the Warped Tour stage after 25 years.

The band will play Bleed American in full, with some additional surprises to be expected from the sets. For select dates, they will also be joined by Rise Against, Hot Mulligan, Sunny Day Real Estate, Thrice, Motion City Soundtrack, Mom Jeans, Minus the Bear, The Get Up Kids, PUP, Sparta, Hey Mercedes, Girls Against Boys, Illuminati Hotties, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, and Jay Som.

Discussing the tour, lead vocalist and guitarist Jim Adkins says: “I feel like at this time in our lives, especially for me, it’s important to get back to a place that you can savor. This tour is designed to be an elevated version of our show, a heightened experience with production that reflects 25 years of learning how to stretch artistically in the live environment.”
