JGrrey announces debut album, you, me and jen

06 August 2026, 15:55 | Written by Kayla Sandiford

South London-born artist JGrrey has detailed her first album, you, me and jen, and shared new single "bedbug" featuring Brooklyn rapper Erick the Architect.

"bedbug" follows previous singles "take my hand" and "pedigrree". The track shows a new side of JGrrey, with trip-hop production by Maths Time Joy.

"I find in music I'm or in my day-to-day life I'm always trying to humble myself, check myself and not get too boastful," JGrrey explains of the single. "When I heard the beat for this it just made me want to chat shit. 'You're not fly your bed bug so good night', like all of that humble shit that I've been preaching… it’s now more like fuck that I'm the shit, you ain't shit, you never gonna be shit”

The album sees JGrrey embracing contradiction, believing that growth comes from accepting complexity rather than resisting it. Growing up in foster care before being adopted, navigating life as a queer mixed Irish-Jamaican woman who never knew her birth father, and spending years moving between places, the songs centre on themes of displacement, identity and belonging.

Since getting her start in the late 2010s through intimate live sessions, JGrrey has collaborated with Finn Askew, Manga Saint Hilare and Baxter Dury, supported Billie Eilish on tour, been sampled by Madlib, and performed at Cross The Tracks, We Out Here and BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend. you, me and jen is a culmination of her experiences spread over textures of neo-soul, jazz, hip-hop, electronic music and alternative R&B.
