Jehnny Beth signs to Fiction Records and announces new album, You Heartbreaker, You
Multi-disciplinary artist Jehnny Beth has heralded her signing to Fiction Records with the announcement of her latest solo album, You Heartbreaker, You, alongside the release of its first cut, "Broken Rib".
Reminiscent of her days in Savages, "Broken Rib" is a powerful raw return. “We learn to breathe with a broken rib” she sings, fighting to keep breathing through the damage, always bouncing back. “I knew that if I was going to sing again, it had to start with a scream,” she says of the track.
“We’re living in a dark time, full of drama and barbarous tragedy. It became clear to me that, in these times, we either learn how to scream really well, or we learn how to whisper,” Jehnny says of the album. Recorded and produced by longtime co-creator Johnny Hostile at their 20L07 studio in France, You Heartbreaker, You follows her 2020 debut solo album, To Love Is To Live.
