Jeffrey Silverstein announces new album, Doggone, featuring Devendra Banhart
Loner-folk artist Jeffrey Silverstein has detailed his upcoming new album, Doggone, and shared lead single "Out Of Tune" featuring guest vocals from Devendra Banhart.
Doggone follows Silverstein's previous albums Western Sky Music (2023) and You Become the Mountain (2020), exploring themes of community, ageing, success, and how location impacts creativity. Today, the Pacific Northwest-based songwriter shares "Out Of Tune", a mellow country-toned track about balancing individuality while being completely in tune with someone else.
"This is a love song," Silverstein says of the single. "It centres around the concept of being fully in sync with your person, moving through the universe as one while still upholding your individuality. There's also a nod to one of my favourite tunes of all time, 'Rollin' with the Flow' by Charlie Rich."
The nine-track album was recorded in Portland at The Center of Sound, Light, and Color, with several collaborators, including producer Ryan Oxford (Y La Bamba, Rose City Band), bassist Alex Chapman and drummer Dana Buoy (Akron/Family), with mastering by Amy Dragon (Big Thief, Moon Duo). While previous releases show the New Jersey native learning how to settle into life in the Pacific Northwest, Doggone sees Silverstein more settled and at peace.
