Jay Som has shared "Past Lives", featuring Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams, as the final preview of her forthcoming album Belong.

Jay Som - the musical project of Los Angeles-based songwriter and producer Melina Duterte - has shared "Past Lives", the final single from her album Belong, which is due to come out this Friday. Belong will be Jay Som's first new album in six years.

"Past Lives" features Paramore's Hayley Williams, a culmination of Jay Som's longstanding relationship with the band. She first opened for Paramore back in 2018, and Duterte and Williams have looked to collaborate since. “After the Paramore After Laughter summer tour in 2018, we kept in touch and she texts me once in a blue moon,” Duterte told Best Fit in a recent interview, explaining that Belong co-producer Steph Marziano suggested that they go to Nashville, book a recording studio and see if Williams was available to contribute to the record.

Speaking of the collaboration, which was the first to be added to Belong, Duterte says: “It’s a dream come true to have Hayley sing on my first feature on an album before the recording of 'Float,’ I still can’t believe it happened.”

“She’s one of the kindest artists out there, and she graciously accepts and uplifts the people around her. We’re all so lucky to witness her talent and live on the same timeline as her."

Jay Som is set to tour through the UK/EU in November, with one stop in London for the Pitchfork Music Festival (8 November).
