James Yorkston, Nina Persson and The Second Hand Orchestra share new track "An Upturned Crab"
James Yorkston, Nina Persson and The Second Hand Orchestra have shared a second preview of their The Great White Sea Eagle album titled "An Upturned Crab".
"An Upturned Crab" follows last month's lead outing "Hold Out For Love", and is once again accompanied by a live performance video by DahDitDit Production.
The Great White Sea Eagle will follow last year's The Wide, Wide River album, and features The Cardigans' Nina Persson as a guest vocalist for the record. The new album will also feature a song that honours Frightened Rabbit's late lead vocalist Scott Hutchison titled "A Sweetness In You".
Yorkston says of the process, "Everyone who was playing in The Second Hand Orchestra, in their own way they are all unique and colourful players. There was no-one there who didn’t know what to do. I would bring them the songs, we would start one - I would play it, and second time round people would start singing and playing, and by the time we had done it three or four times we would hit record and we would be ready to go. And the thing that they all had was the ability to give each other space and to come up with their parts based on what other people were playing naturally was a very quick process, and they were all so open, nobody was egotistical. Everything was just happy. I love the wildness in it."
"An Upturned Crab" is out now. James Yorkston, Nina Persson and The Second Hand Orchestra's The Great White Sea Eagle album will be released on 13 January 2023 via Domino, and is available to pre-order now.
