Isabel Pine signs to kranky and announces upcoming album, Fables
Canadian musician Isabel Pine has announced her upcoming album Fables, to be released on kranky, and shared new singles "Wolves" and "A Flickering Light".
After self-releasing previous EPs Transcience, Channels, and Where the Flowers Grow on Bandcamp, Isabel Pine has found a home for her upcoming album with Chicago independent label, kranky. "Wolves" and "A Flickering Light" arrive as the first previews of the new work.
Pine started recording Fables in the autumn of 2024 using a basic audio setup, cello, viola, violin, double bass, and field recordings of natural sounds in British Columbia. This led her to spend time recording fully in nature, alternating between a remote cabin and the outdoors. She explains being curious about "how it would sound if I recorded outside entirely, with the natural reverb and sounds of the environment in the recording from the very beginning. The rustling of the leaves or a raven’s beating wings were as integral to the music as whatever I played.”
