Indigo De Souza shares new cut "Smog"
Indigo De Souza has shared her new single "Smog" as the second taster of her upcoming album All of This Will End.
After announcing All of This Will End with the lead single "Young and Dumber" last month, Indigo De Souza has unveiled a second outing from the record titled "Smog", which lands with a self-directed video.
"I remember writing this song during the peak of the pandemic," she explains. "I was living alone on a dead end street surrounded by neighbours who were seemingly always mowing their lawns. I remember having a lot of anxiety during the day, navigating the newly awkward and uncertain experience of doing anything mid world freak-out. I was in an emotional state that felt like a cross between delirious joy and a real tired hopelessness. Everything felt unknown and distant. "Smog" is mostly about that strange time and how it felt in my house, alone. When the neighbourhood was asleep, and all the lawn mowers stopped, I felt free to make anything and sing anything I wanted. It was my first time ever living alone. It brought me a lot closer to myself."
All of This Will End is inspired by her childhood memories, trips in the Appalachian mountains and southern swamps with friends, and more. It was recorded at Asheville’s Drop of Sun Studios with producer and engineer Alex Farrar, who also worked on Any Shape You Take.
"Smog" is out now. Indigo De Souza's All of This Will End album will be released via Saddle Creek on 28 April, and is available to pre-order now.
