Iceage to return with "urgent and raw" sixth album, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter
Iceage have announced their upcoming album, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter, their first new album since 2021, and shared new single, "Ember".
For Love of Grace & the Hereafter is set to land eighteen years into the Danish band's career, following their fifth album Seek Shelter. "Ember" arrives as the second preview of the album, arriving after "Star", released last month, and is accompanied by a music video directed by directed by the band and Ira Rønnenfelt.
Produced by the band alongside Nis Bysted, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter was recorded last year at Silence Studio in rural Sweden. It marks the first time Iceage have returned to a studio for a second session – the only previous occasion being 2014’s Plowing Into the Field of Love at the same location. They kept the studio setup minimal and played full takes, with lyrics written just weeks before the recording sessions.
Vocalist Elias Rønnenfelt says the aim was to recapture the intense energy of their 2014 album, explaining: “The songs needed to be immediate, urgent, raw, and fast. We wanted to try to shed any unnecessary weight. Catching outlets of energy is what excites us the most.”
