Holly Macve announces forthcoming album, Wonderland
Holly Macve has announced her forthcoming album Wonderland, alongside the release of the brand new single, "San Fran Honey".
Speaking on "San Fran Honey", Macve shared: “It’s about a love that never came into full fruition. Someone I think of from my past, who I was so drawn to, but looking back I’m so glad that nothing ever happened between us because the magic was never lost.” She expands, “I guess you maintain a fantasy version of them, but the reality is that you know damn well they would have been so bad for you.”
The track follows recent single, "Wonderland", and the Time Is Forever EP which was released earlier this year, and features a collaboration with Lana Del Rey on "Suburban House".
Wonderland marks Holly’s first new album in three years and is a new beginning for the Galway-born and Yorkshire-raised songwriter. Taking full control of her creative output for the very first time, Macve co-produced part of the 12 track release alongside Dan Rothman (London Grammar), and assembled some of her most trusted collaborators including Beatrice Balagna (sound engineer) and David Saunders (strings) in the recording of the album.
Wonderland feels especially close to Holly’s newfound peace, she elaborated, “I think that ‘Wonderland’ is meant to represent the next chapter in my life, which is me being unashamedly myself and just appreciating being alive.”
