HodgyBeats from Odd Future embarks on a new era as jerry
jerry – formerly known as Hodgy Beats of Odd Future – unveils his surprise album, lovemesooner. Accompanying the release is the focus track, "time is measured".
The eighteen-track album is jerry's sound done his own way, on his own terms. Its expansive instrumentation has been brought to life by the likes of Leland Whitty and Chester Hansen of BADBADNOTGOOD and JD. REID.
lovemesooner follows on from the record's three-song sampler and its forerunning EP, piupiupiu, produced by Saya Gray, musical director for WILLOW. and Daniel Caesar.
New Jersey-born Gerard Long, known previously as Hodgy Beats, was a founding member of rap collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA) alongside Tyler The Creator, Left Brain, Domo Genesis, Mike G and Syd Tha Kid. jerry was the first member of the group to release a solo record, The Dena Tape in 2009. In tandem with Left Brain, under the duo title MellowHype, the pair released four albums; YelloWhite, BlackenedWhite, Numbers and INSA.
