HMLTD launch their ÜberGöth era with "Blitzkrieg"

London collective HMLTD have released a new single, “Blitzkrieg”, their first material since 2023 album The Worm. The track arrives via Lucky Number alongside an accompanying video that sees their sound pivot into a new era they're calling GÖTHERDÄMMERUNG.

Mixed by Nicos Kennedy, whose credits include Machine Girl and Femtanyl, “Blitzkrieg” is framed as a deliberate realignment with the London band's earlier principles. “'Blitzkrieg' is our first single in three years, and a reinstatement of intent and the values which defined our early manifesto,” they say. “It is a return to radical experimentation, violent confrontation, and music as revolt.”

The song is being positioned as the opening statement of a wider aesthetic shift. HMLTD are calling the emerging sound GÖTHERDÄMMERUNG, or ÜberGöth, describing it as a form of gothic insurrection that resurrects imagery of plague pits, witches, ruined castles, and vampires as tools for understanding what they term the “new demons created by capital.” The accompanying video explores this new visual identity, giving early shape to a world the band have been teasing since the release of The Worm two years ago.

The single’s birth in club spaces is something the group have been keen to stress, and “Blitzkrieg” certainly carries the compressed intensity of a room about to burst. Yet the track’s structural collapse in its final moments suggests HMLTD remain committed to wrong-footing listeners, a habit that defined their earlier work. No word yet on a full-length follow-up to The Worm, but the mention of an imminent run of dates points to a busier 2026.

One YouTube commenter calls the new track and video "pure insanity". See for yourself.
