Henry Coke announces debut album, Let It Set Us Alight

South London musician and producer Henry Coke has detailed his first album, Let It Set Us Alight, and shared second single "Regret (You Make Me)" ahead of an October release.

The eleven-track album was recorded and self-produced by Coke in a student house in Lewisham, and introduces him as an artist whose creativity stems from the influence of his upbringing."Regret (You Make Me)" lands alongside the announcement, following lead single "I Want To Feel It In My Heart".

Speaking about the track, Coke says: "'Regret (You Make Me)' speaks to standing for something in the past that you don't connect with anymore and feeling like you've wasted time by doing so, whether it's a friendship, or a deeply-held belief. It deals with the conflict of no longer feeling that faith, as you question both the time you've wasted versus what you could now have."

Born into a lineage of vicars and church leaders, Coke drifted from the church and started considering questions around faith and God openly on his own terms, with his own songs moved by the work of Bob Dylan, Young Fathers and Low. He's spent time introducing these songs within London's live music scene, performing shows at venues including The Windmill and The George Tavern, alongside Geordie Greep, Dove Ellis and 1000 Rabbits.

"It's about finding peace in the chaos," Coke says of Let It Set Us Alight. "The music is based around my own questioning. It details losing the faith that has also been the bedrock of my entire life, and what it means to walk away from that. It's about me really trying to figure out where I stand."
