Grouper, Bill Callahan, Habibi lead lineup announcement for Winnipeg's Winterruption
Running January 20-24 across the Manitoban city of Winnipeg, Winterruption YWG returns next year with a lineup led by Grouper, Bill Callahan, and Habibi, with many more acts from Canada and beyond.
Winterruption is a multi-day arts and music festival that takes over seven venues, businesses, and public spaces across the city, turning them into vibrant cultural hubs during the coldest time of year. As their website puts it, "Winter in Manitoba can be a long, cold and dark time. But if the rumours are true, Winnipeg is filled with hearty people who actually still live and thrive in winter."
The festival, presented by Real Love Winnipeg and the West End Cultural Centre, held its inaugural edition months before the pandemic took hold in 2020. Since then it has maintained a focus on inclusivity and diversity. Other names on the lineup for 2027 include Cola, Ora Cogan, Homeboy Sandman, Blue Hawaii, Gizmo, and Clarion.
This year's edition was topped by Open Mike Eagle, FEAR, PISS, and Hiss Golden Messenger.
Winterruption is part of a larger family of Western Canadian winter festivals - including editions in Saskatoon and Edmonton. Tickets go on sale Monday, Oct. 12 at 10am CT.
