Grimes has revealed on Twitter that her next album is done, and has also hinted that something new could be arriving on 30 September.

This year Grimes has been teasing the release of her BOOK 1 album, and an EP due to arrive before the album titled Fairies Cum First, but Grimes hasn't shared any official announcements for either of the projects. Last month Grimes also teased that a collaboration with The Weeknd would arrive this summer, but it's still yet to arrive.

On Twitter yesterday (13 September), Grimes replied to fans and dropping little snippets of information about her upcoming releases. One user told Grimes to get back in the studio, to which she responded, "Album is done. Waiting on approvals for next single and mixing." Another fan asked if the album is "still about lesbian AI", and Grimes wrote, "Yes it’s about militarized ai courtesans among other things."

Elsewhere, another fan asked if Grimes has plans to release anything "similar to "Shinigami Eyes" in terms of aesthetics in the future," and Grimes teased, "Oh boy. Wait for sept 30."

Another follower asked about Grimes' plans when her contract with Columbia Records comes to an end, and Grimes replied, "Yeh, gna fulfill my Columbia commitments then go rogue and just release as I please and also write manuscripts and things , waiting on approvals to release the next song again I apologize for delay."

Grimes also confirmed that "Utopia" will be included on her next album, and also spoke about the delay with The Weeknd collaboration "Sci-Fi", "Depends on Abel and Columbia but , I had a rly intense medical situation in the spring so I am relishing the delay tbh. The delay is kinda convenient cuz I’m just getting back to health."

Last month Grimes appeared on Bella Poarch's Dolls EP track "No Man's Land".
