googly eyes shares Tove Lo and Flume collab "I Don't Go Out"
googly eyes has released “I Don’t Go Out”, the first track from her upcoming collaborative project with Tove Lo and Flume.
Out now via Pretty Swede and Neon Gold Records, the single was co-written by the trio and co-produced by googly eyes and Flume. Accompanied by a visualiser directed by Maya Sassoon, the track is described as “a going-out club record for those who want nothing more than to stay at home with their person.”
The release marks googly eyes' (aka Bethany Ann Warner) first time working with outside collaborators. The partnership initially began in September 2023, when Swedish popstar Tove Lo and producer Flume posted an open call via Instagram, inviting emerging artists to submit demos for a project. After receiving thousands of submissions, Warner was selected as the artist to collaborate with the pair, leading to a full EP set for release later this year.
Speaking about the new track, Warner says: “It’s a pretty surreal moment releasing a song I made with Tove Lo and Flume – especially since it’s my first time opening my world to collaborators. "I Don’t Go Out" is lovestruck, tender, and for anyone who’s happiest to be in bed by 9pm with their person. It taps into two things I circle back to constantly: my instinct to retreat from the noise, and my deep, uncomplicated love for my partner.”
Pretty Swede Records is an independent label founded in 2022 by Tove Lo and to date has released Lo's 2023 LP Dirt Femme, her collaborative 2024 HEAT EP with SG Lewis, and googly eyes’ Starlet EP – which was the first release by Pretty Swede outside of Lo's own artist project.
Speaking of the signing, Tove Lo says: "googly eyes is such an incredible artist, writer and producer, and her new EP is full of gold. Internet Star has such a beautiful yet witty vulnerability that I think anyone who’s had dreams that maybe didn’t go their way can relate to. I’m very excited for this project to be the first new artist release on Pretty Swede Records! Of course together with my friends at Neon Gold."
“I Don’t Go Out” is available now, with the full collaborative EP due later this year.
