Goldie to bring Metalheadz record shop and video archive to Saatchi Gallery
DJ/producer/graffiti artist Goldie will take over a room at London’s Saatchi Gallery for six months with an immersive Metalheadz record shop and a video archive – part of BEYOND THE STREETS II.
The exhibition runs at Saatchi Gallery from 11 November 2026 to 5 May 2027. Goldie’s room will screen 30 years of short films and music videos across 30 stacks of vintage TVs, as well as hosting a Metalheadz record shop – the drum and bass label he co-founded in 1994. The show also revisits his graffiti origins across the West Midlands.
Goldie was raised in Wolverhampton and took up breakdancing and graffiti as a teenager. His graffiti work across Birmingham and Wolverhampton featured in the 1987 Channel 4 documentary Bombin’. After a stint in the US, Goldie released the 1992 jungle single “Terminator”, credited with pioneering the use of time stretching in the genre. His 1995 album Timeless featured the breakout track “Inner City Life”. He has since collaborated with artists such as David Bowie and Skepta.
BEYOND THE STREETS II also features The Selector frontwoman Pauline Black, the archive of The Big Issue, Normski’s photography of Soul II Soul and Public Enemy, Janette Beckman’s photography of The Specials, Shepard Fairey, Pussy Riot founder Nadya Tolokonnikova, Neil Kenlock, KAWS, Guerilla Girls, Jenny Holzer, FUTURA 2000, Zephyr, Lady Pink, and GG the Illustrator.
Goldie said: “As much as the governments try to erase us, BEYOND THE STREETS proves there is enough interest in and documentation of this culture to allow us to rise up.”
The exhibition opens days before Goldie’s Royal Festival Hall show on 14 November 2026, where he will perform with a live band, an orchestra, and guest artists. Tickets are available from saatchigallery.com.
BEYOND THE STREETS II is at Saatchi Gallery from 11 November 2026 to 5 May 2027
