CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse have reunited to deliver Atlanta, their final record as Gnarls Barkley, bringing a project they began two decades ago to a close.

Named in tribute to the pair's shared hometown, Atlanta is released on 6 March and marks the first new material from the pair since 2008's The Odd Couple. It will be their final record together according to a statement released today.

The record is teased by lead single "Pictures", drawn from the duo's teenage experiences in Atlanta riding on the city's MARTA train system. "Pictures is like going back to square one," Green explains. "It's a full circle moment. The song came from a childhood experience. I had a middle school principal who, every Friday would tell me to go when I would get to school. Without fail. I was in 8th grade and I would leave school and ride the train alone from 8am until 2:30pm."

Danger Mouse, who won a Grammy for his production on Adele's 25, has also worked with the likes of Michael Kiwanuka, MGMT and Parquet Courts in recent years. His last substantial body of work was 2022's Into the Blue, his third album as one half of Broken Bells with The Shins' James Mercer.

Since the last Gnarls Barkley record, Green has released four solo album and reunited with Goodie Mob for two records. In 2012, he was accused of sexual battery and ended up pleading no contest to a felony count of furnishing ecstasy; he was sentenced to three years of probation and 360 hours of community service. Two years later he issued a public apology after series of tweets relating to the case.

Gnarls Barkley remain notable for 2006 song "Crazy", which became the first track to reach number one in the UK based solely on digital downloads and held the top spot for nine consecutive weeks.
