glaive and kurtains announce joint album God Save The Three, release "The Troubles" single
Producer and vocalist glaive has confirmed a new LP made with longtime collaborator kurtains, titled God Save The Three, due for release on 8 May. The announcement arrives with lead single “The Troubles”, accompanied by a video filmed in Kilkee, Ireland.
The pair debuted while still at school, helping to drive an internet-born sound that blended electronic and pop elements. kurtains also produced glaive’s most recent album Y’ALL, which traced the experience of returning to his hometown in North Carolina as a changed person.
Speaking on the new single, glaive and kurtains said: “‘The Troubles’ came together during a recording trip we made to The Cotswolds in sunny England. It’s a song that reflects the juxtaposition in our lives, representing the tension between our modest yet lavish tendencies. We needed a dance track, so we made a dance track.”
According to the pair, kurtains began with garage-influenced drums and soft synth chords, before glaive wrote the hook. When they struggled with a second verse, kurtains rapped over the bassline in a Welsh accent as a joke. “We laughed, for it felt like magic,” they said. The track draws from multiple dance sub-genres.
The new record follows glaive’s 2024 LP May It Never Falter, which he recorded in Iceland and Wales, continuing an approach to isolated recording environments that began with his 2023 debut i care so much i don’t care at all. That album was supported by North American and European touring.
Fans got an early listen to material from God Save The Three at glaive’s London headline show at O2 Forum Kentish Town in February, where the setlist included several unreleased tracks from the record.
