gash sign to Angel Tapes and announce new album, at least you know what you’re laughing at

at least you know what you’re laughing at follows a string of previous EP and album releases from the band, and is described as the "most holistic version" of gash, as a space for reflections on trauma to be expressed through rage. "good and bad" arrives as the first preview of the collection of song, alongside a video directed by Kyle Scherber.

“Kyle is a visual artist that went to UWEC, and after graduating this year moved to Minneapolis,” the band say of how the video concept came together. “While Kyle was in Eau Claire, he was heavily involved in the DIY scene, doing visuals for local shows and DJ-ing house shows. We wanted Kyle to do the video because he’s always working more and more ambitiously, and we were curious to see what he could bring to gash’s music.”

The album began mainly as digital compositions that gash started working on following a 2025 self-booked tour. With vocals from Breckelle Bathke, guitar from Mitchell Smuhl, drums from Eric Simmons, and bass from Ricky Christensen, gash combine their noise-rock inclinations with a digital edge through samples from band founder Logan Nyberg's (guitar/vocals/production) digitised home videos, introducing "the new gash".

Later this week, gash embark on a headline tour including stops in Austin, Dallas and Oklahoma City, before culminating in a hometown performance at Bon Iver's Eaux Claires Festival.
