"A homecoming record for me": Gabriella Cilmi announces return with new single "Pure Love"
Gabriella Cilmi has announced her return to music, releasing ‘Pure Love’, her first new material in several years and song she describes as "a mantra of surrender".
The track marks a shift away from the polished pop production that accompanied the Australian singer-songwriter's early work and was produced by Peter Miles (Orla Gartland, dodie).
“‘Pure Love’ is a homecoming record for me,” Cilmi says. “It’s about coming home to yourself. To me this song really feels like a mantra of surrender and I wrote it as a reminder to get out of my head and back into the moment. I hope it can help others do the same.”
Cilmi has already returned to live performance, with a set at KOKO’s jazz-and-blues venue Ellen’s earlier this week and a War Child show alongside Jack Savoretti and Katherine Jenkins back in February.
