Fontaines D.C. announce biggest headline tour to date for autumn, including London O2 Arena
Fontaines D.C. have announced their largest headline tour yet with a twenty-date run through Europe and the UK this autumn.
The tour opens in Lisbon on 21 October, five days after the release of the band's fifth album, Dopamine Chamber, and closes at London's O2 Arena on 27 November.
The dates are confirmed ahead of a busy festival weekend for the band, who headline Reading tonight, Leeds tomorrow and Ireland's Electric Picnic on Sunday.
The European leg takes in Madrid, Barcelona, Bologna, Belgrade, Prague, Łódź, Berlin, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Antwerp and Paris, before the band return to the UK for six arena shows: Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham and London. No Irish dates have been confirmed yet, though the band say fans there should expect news soon.
Tickets go on general sale at 10am BST on Thursday 3 September. A pre-sale opens at 10am BST on Tuesday 1 September, available to anyone who pre-orders Dopamine Chamber from the band's official store by 6pm on Monday 31 August. Fans wanting pre-sale access to the European dates can sign up separately by the same deadline.
Dopamine Chamber is released on 16 October via XL Recordings, produced by James Ford. It follows 2024's Romance, which was certified platinum in the UK, and marks the band's fifth album since their 2019 debut Dogrel. Between records, Fontaines D.C. have picked up a UK and Ireland number one with 2022's Skinty Fia and continued to shift away from the guitar-driven sound of their early work.
The album was recorded between London, the English countryside and Palermo, where singer Grian Chatten laid down vocals in a booth built from mattresses and cushions. Chatten has described the record as an experiment on the listener. "The album itself is a dopamine chamber," he said. "You step inside and we test these different mind- or mood-altering pieces of music on you." He also framed the record as a response to a wider sense of instability. "There's a poignant sense of us being on the brink of some other kind of form of humanity, or non-humanity," Chatten said.
