FOCUS Wales 2025 announces first film industry events and speakers
The first wave of film industry events and delegates has been announced for the BAFTA Cymru-Qualifying FOCUS Wales Film Festival, set to take place 9-10 May 2025 at Coleg Cambria’s campus in Wrexham.
The festival will be hosted by Robert Corcoran of 73 Degree Films, who says: “I’m thrilled that we’re once again able to bring incredible filmmakers, industry leaders, and more to Wrexham. The 2025 edition looks set to be our biggest and best yet!”
Among the highlights, Ffilm Cymru’s CEO Lee Walters will join a panel discussion titled The State of Welsh Filmmaking, which will explore upcoming projects, trends, and the latest funding and commissioning opportunities for filmmakers and production companies. Walters will be joined by Dai Baker, Creative Wales’ Sector Development Manager for Film, and Guto Rhun, S4C’s Young Audiences Commissioner.
The festival will also feature a BAFTA Cymru-Qualifying short film competition and a carefully curated feature film programme, with the full lineup to be announced soon. Additionally, Rachel Pedley of Avant Cymru will participate in a discussion titled The Future of Filmmaking, exploring emerging formats, technologies and opportunities shaping the future of storytelling and content creation.
The final submission for entries takes place on 14 Februrary. For more information on the programme, submissions, or to purchase tickets and delegate passes, visit focuswales.com.
