The Belair Lip Bombs, Greg Mendez, Adult DVD, Cardinals and Good Looks lead Best Fit's five-day festival of new music
This coming January, Best Fit will celebrate the tenth edition of the Five Day Forecast– our annual festival showcasing the very best in new music – with the first names announced today.
Taking place at The Lexington in London from 13-17 January 2025, this year's line-up sees The Belair Lip Bombs, Greg Mendez, Adult DVD, Cardinals and Good Looks heading up five nights of incredible music with tickets on sale from Wednesday, 13 November.
Over the last ten years, the Five Day Forecast has featured Mercury Music prize nominees Self Esteem, Jockstrap, Porridge Radio and Black Country New Road as well as early shows from the likes of Pale Waves, Katy J Pearson, Squid, as well as debut UK performances from Snail Mail, Soccer Mommy, Gia Margaret, Faye Webster and more.
Dance-rock outfit Adult DVD open the first night of the 2025 Five Day Forecast. Formed in lockdown, the Leeds-raised six-piece have become known for their relentless output of infectious hooks and grooves backed up by live sets that channel the adrenalin and euphoria of the club scene. They’re joined by Cardiff new wave outfit Slate and DIY punk/rap firebrand Erin West, better known as short straw.
Austin, Texas quartet Good Looks dropped their second album Lived Here For A While late this summer, a record buzzing with cathartic rock songs about the persistence required to make it through hard times. The band are fresh from an appearance at Pitchfork London and play alongside Norwich-based country rock band Brown Horse on Tuesday night of the Forecast.
A staple in the DIY community for years, Greg Mendez has carved out a reputation for introspective and interrogative music of majestic lo-fi beauty. Three albums in, he’s now found a home at the same label as Phoebe Bridgers, Wednesday and Cassandra Jenkins. Headlining the mid-week slot at the Forecast, he’s joined by rising singer/songwriters Greg Freeman and Kitty Fitz.
With Third Man Records reissuing their debut record earlier this year, Melbourne four-piece The Belair Lip Bombs are the latest in a string of great Antipodean exports pushing a unique take on guitar-pop that pulls from across the last 50 years of alternative music. Partisan-signed lo-fi shoegazer TTSSFU and Norwich heart-on-sleeve indie-rock band SUDS join them to complete Thursday’s line up.
Fontaines D.C. co-signed Cardinals are among the hottest bands coming out of Ireland right now. Releasing their debut EP via So Young records, the Cork City quartet have perfected a sound that leans towards the left-field but is built on a template of classic indie-pop. They close the final night of the Forecast alongside Dublin trio Search Results.
