Faroese artist Eivør details new album, Tungl

Eivør has announced her upcoming album, Tungl, and shared new single, "Drekafljóð / Dragon Maiden".

Tungl — which translates to "moon" in Faroese — follows Eivør's 2024 album Enn, and will be her first release on German metal label Nuclear Blast. Having explored rock, pop noir, jazz, folk and electronica across eleven albums over the past two decades, the new collection of songs is said to delve deeper into her musical vision. Today, "Drekafljóð / Dragon Maiden" arrives as the newest preview. It's a track about trusting your intuition, embracing uncertainty, and finding the courage to surrender to life's unfolding", as Eivør comments.

"The song is a tribute to the fierce, intuitive force that lives within us all," Eivør explains. "While my previous single, 'Healer', explored resilience, 'Dragon Maiden' feels more like an awakening, a reminder of the power that has always been within you."

"The song began as a poem that had been quietly living in the back of my mind for a long time," she continues. "I wanted to capture that beautiful, liberating feeling of letting go of the need to control everything and opening yourself to whatever life may bring. I invited one of my favourite poetic minds, Marjun S. Kjelnæs, to finish the poem with me, and I’m so proud of what we created together."

Discussing the album, Eivør adds: “Tungl explores the ever-changing cycles of life – its songs move between moments of tenderness and heartache, love and loss, and the emotional tides that shape us. Like the moon that inspired its title, Tungl serves as a gentle guide through life’s darker passages, illuminating the beauty, resilience, and transformation found along the way.”

Following the release, Eivør is set to embark on an extensive North American tour throughout October and November, followed by a run of UK/EU dates kicking off in March 2027.
