Esben and the Witch announce new album Hold Sacred
Esben and the Witch have announced their forthcoming sixth album Hold Sacred, which is due for release in May 2023.
The trio haven't released new music since their 2018 album Nowhere, but now they've shared news of their upcoming sixth album Hold Sacred.
Rough sketches of the songs that feature on their new full-length were created at a villa outside of Rome back in 2019. Vocalist Rachel Davies says, "Everything’s changed and nothing’s changed. This kernel is the purest essence of Esben and the Witch since our inception."
Davies adds, "I feel proud of us for staying strong as a trio, as a weird little family that has managed to create something out of the darkness that hopefully shimmers, like a crystal in the mud. I am proud of not giving up, of maintaining our integrity throughout. This is the sound of three people who love and support each other, navigating the ever present figure of the black dog; and if we can provide help or solace for anyone else, also haunted, then that is value enough. Perhaps this record will be our last, or perhaps it’s just another beginning."
Esben and the Witch's Hold Sacred album will be released on 12 May 2023 via Nostromo Records.
