Leeds band The Mission, formed out of the ashes of The Sisters of Mercy, have confirmed the full programme and supporting line-up for their four-night residency at the O2 Forum in London this November, marking 40 years since the release of their debut album.

Each night of the residency takes a different thematic shape and explores a particular era of their 10-album-strong career.

The opening date on 4 November will feature God’s Own Medicine played in full, supplemented with b-sides and extras, with Claytown Troupe in support. Thursday 5 November pulls from the albums First Chapter, Children, Grains of Sand, Neverland, Aura and The Brightest Light, with SpaceAcre opening. Friday 6 November draws from God’s Own Medicine, Carved in Sand, Masque, Blue, God Is a Bullet and Another Fall From Grace, with Mouth Ulcers on the bill. The final night on 7 November, titled “Kith & Kin: By Request”, will feature songs chosen by fans across social media, with Power of Dreams supporting.

The residency caps a year that already includes two sold-out headline sets at the Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival in Whitby on 30 and 31 October. Tickets for both nights went within hours.

The mission tour

Released in November 1986, God’s Own Medicine established The Mission as a defining outfit of the UK’s alternative and gothic landscape. Built around the twin guitars of Hussey and Simon Hinkler, Craig Adams’ basslines and Mick Brown’s drumming, the record spawned singles “Wasteland” and “Severina”, along with live staples like “Garden of Delight”, “Stay With Me” and “Love Me to Death”. The band - formed after Hussey and Adams departed The Sisters of Mercy - went on to sell millions of albums and headline major festivals globally, with a string of follow-ups including Children, Carved in Sand and Masque.

The Mission have also confirmed they will release new music in 2027.
