Christopher Owens pays tribute to Michael Jackson at End of the Road Festival
Christopher Owens made his first ever appearance at End of the Road the final day of the festival with a Best Fit secret session and a surprising cover song.
“This guy reached through my walkman, grabbed my heart, and made me listen,” the former Girls frontman shared during before playing Michael Jackson’s 1973 track “Music and Me”. “He made me listen to music at a time where I wasn’t allowed to listen to secular music, and that’s when I knew that it was right," he added.
Owens released I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair last year – his first new record in nearly a decade – and also performed “Oh My Love”, a song about a girl named Liza that was tweaked to protect her privacy, he also played an acoustic rendition of Michael Jackson’s 1973 song “Music and Me”.
End of the Road Festival concludes today with headline sets from Father John Misty; Black Country, New Road; John Maus; and Fabiano Palladino.
Earlybird tickets for End of the Road Festival’s 20th anniversary edition in 2026 will be on sale from Tuesday 2 September via endoftheroadfestival.com
