"It's been twenty years and it's still just the beginning": Brother Wallace wishes End of the Road a happy birthday with secret set to close Piano Stage
The Georgia-raised junior music school teacher turned supreme soulman performed a cover of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” and invited the audience to sing happy birthday for End of The Road’s 20th anniversary.
Brother Wallace’s spirited sunset performance marked the conclusion of the Piano Stage’s secret sessions which included surprise appearances from thredd, Madra Salach and Jeffrey Lewis.
He shared a soul-igniting cover of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" alongside cuts from his debut album Electric Love released earlier this year: a statement of identity from an artist whose joy feels earned, gospel-rooted and built for stages both intimate and expansive.
To conclude his performance, he invited everyone to sing happy birthday to End of the Road to celebrate it's 20th anniversary edition. "It's been twenty years and it's still just the beginning," he said.
Best Fit's secret sessions have become a key part of End of the Road each year, bringing together artists from across the line-up in a series of short sets, exclusive covers, collaborations, and live interviews and Q&As.
