Aunty Rayzor brings sharp flow to End of the Road during her first ever UK tour
Aunty Rayzor was a high-energy conclusion to the Boat Stage’s programme of experimental fringe acts at End of the Road Festival this weekend.
The Nigerian rapper – born Bisola Olugbenga – who blends English and Yoruba lyrics, barrelled onstage and ran through songs from her 2023 album Viral Wreckage, most of which clock in at under two-minutes. Before playing “Ina”, she addressed the crowd to explain that “Ina in my language means fire, and by the way I’m Nigerian. This is my first time in the UK but I’m loving it. I love you guys so much.”
It’s a sentiment that cropped up throughout the weekend with artists such as Hayden Pedigo and Cryogeyser making their End of the Road debuts and noting with surprise how open, welcoming and respectful they found the crowds to their sound.
Earlier on the Boat Stage, Gina Birch – founding bassist of legendary punk act The Raincoats – offered primitive, playful ska with easy-to-grasp maxims about cherishing your friends and resisting the “lunatics in charge.” Other Boat Stage highlights from across the weekend include Argentinian saxophonist Gal Go, irreverent noisy newcomers RIP Magic, prolific new-folk guitarist Six Organs of Admittance, and South London experimental grime artist Black Fondu.
Earlybird tickets for End of the Road Festival’s 20th anniversary edition in 2026 will be on sale from Tuesday 2 September via endoftheroadfestival.com
