Elisabeth Elektra joins forces with Mogwai and CHVRCHES on new single, "Broken Promises"
Glasgow-based pop polymath Elisabeth Elektra releases new single "Broken Promises" which features Jonny Scott of CHVRCHES and Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai.
Written by Elektra, "Broken Promises" is co-produced and performed by Elisabeth Elektra and Jonny Scott of CHVRCHES and features guest guitars from Mogwai's Stuart Braithwaite. Shot at Beachy Head, the video for Broken Promises is directed by Brighton-based director Agnès Haus, with an entirely female and non-binary team. The track follows on from previous single, "The Dream".
“I wrote this song while I was going through a particularly difficult time in my life. Everything felt so unstable and disorienting, but I realised even at the time that I was being forged by trauma into a stronger, more resilient and powerful person," Elektra says. "Music has always been a way for me to channel more difficult emotions such as rage into something productive. The song is about the realisation that all the things we worry about really don’t matter, only love matters. Everything else fades away”.
The forthcoming Broken Promises EP is set for release on 16 November via Mogwai/Rock Action.
