Eden Samara details second album, Odyssey
London-based artist Eden Samara has announced her upcoming album, Odyssey, and shared lead single, "Punish Me".
Samara made her debut in 2022 with her album Rough Night, after moving from Canada to London in 2019 following a trip to Europe, which exposed her to her first formative clubbing experiences. She has since moved through the underground circuit, collaborating with the likes of Parris, Ciel and Loraine James. Today, she previews her second full-length work with her new single, "Punish Me".
Odyssey features production and instrumental contributions from Loraine James, Tim Reaper, TSVI, Ryan Pierre, Comfort Zone, Dan Only, Ryan Cover and Lighght, with live harp from Marysia Osu and drums from Fyn Dobson. The collection of songs sees Samara expand on her ensemble further with jungle and choral singing, taking inspiration from literary works including Homer’s Odyssey, The Alchemist, and The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Speaking about the album, Samara explains: "This work is a narrative and sonic expedition - part myth, part memoir - that traces my path through the emotional aftermath of watching loved ones struggle with drug addiction and mental health crises, and the impact it had on my own mental wellbeing. The album addresses substance abuse, toxic relationships, and the internalised belief that love must come through sacrifice, even at the cost of one’s selfhood."
