Eaves Wilder returns with new single, "Everybody Talks"
Eaves Wilder has returned with the release of the single, "Everybody Talks", marking her first new music in two years.
"Everybody Talks" rose from a din of invasive thoughts that began on stage as she attempted to steer a gig to its conclusion. “I’ve never experienced anything like it,” she recalls, “There were some girls at the front of the stage, just chatting really loudly all through my set. I could hear what they were saying – and, to be honest, some of it was actually quite funny. But I think what happened after that was something like an out of body experience.”
This was the queasy cocktail of emotions that – as she made her way home alone – started to alchemise into "Everybody Talks". Eaves Wilder went straight to the shed where she writes, plays and arranges all of her songs – and worked until dawn. She knew what this song needed to be. It had to mirror that sense of chaos and dissociation, “When it feels like this rising waterline of punishing intrusive voices is up to your neck, and you’re trying to make yourself taller and taller, and shouting louder and louder, so you can keep your head up.”
"Everybody Talks" is out now via Secretly Canadian.
