Dutch noise-punk band Library Card announce new album, Peeling An Orange In Just One Go

Formed in 2021 by vocalist Lot van Teylingen, guitarist Mitchell Quitz, bassist Kat Kalkman, and drummer Emre Karayalçin, Library Card have poured the angst of their anxiety around city life into a handful of singles and their 2023 EP, Nothing, Interesting.

Peeling an Orange in Just One Go digs deeper into the band's anguish, with "People Pleaser" arriving as the latest preview of the collection of songs. Discussing the track, van Teylingen explains: "'People Pleaser' deals with the theme of having to suppress one’s anger for the sake of staying modest and likeable. For the sake of the patriarchy, for the sake of avoiding confrontation, for the sake of fitting a framework that has been established by a society that prefers its members to be agreeable and silent, and punishes them when they do not comply."

"We’ve become so good at suppressing our rage that it feels alien to us to even think about expressing it, even though it eats away at our insides," they continue. "In response to that, we scream. And we scream loudly."

Having previously supported bands including OSEES, Sports Team, Just Mustard, and Kills Birds, as well as securing slots at Dour Festival, Le Guess Who?, SXSW, ESNS, Best Kept Secret, and Left of the Dial, the band are set to return to the stage for a run of shows throughout Europe over the next few months.
