Don Letts, Joe Talbot (Idles), DJ Próvaí (KNEECAP), AURORA, and more collaborate with visual artists for In Place of War auction
24 renowned visual artists, musicians and cultural figures have collaborated on 12 brand new artworks to raise money for global non-profit organisation In Place of War's charity auction, MUSIC SHAPED.
MUSIC SHAPED is a project from non-profit organisation In Place of War that pairs musical and cultural icons with exceptional visual artists to create works reflecting how music has influenced their lives. The collaboration begins with a recorded conversation between the visual artist and musician and results in the creation of a brand new artwork reflecting their conversations and creative journeys.
The pieces created for MUSIC SHAPED 2025 will form part of the Sound and Cinema Auction presented by Bonhams online from 24th November – 3rd December. Proceeds from the MUSIC SHAPED artworks will support In Place of War’s #HackMusic Programme, which provides critical catalyst funding to support the development of essential life-changing music projects with indigenous communities; LGBTQI+ artists; artists in conflict zones; and artists responding to the climate crisis.
Last year’s MUSIC SHAPED included artists and musicians such as Self Esteem, Charlotte Church, AURORA, Ed O’Brien (Radiohead) and Brian Eno, collaborating on works that included photography, painting and sculpture, raising £32,100 for the charity.
"It’s challenging to fundraise for our work and there has never been a greater need for it, in these turbulent times. This beautiful creative project allows us to fundraise for critical projects in places affected by conflict, through the creation of new artworks, by some of the most brilliant artists on the planet. We are honoured to have such a rich list of creative collaborators involved. We are truly humbled and hope that audiences will enjoy this new art, which tells stories of the importance of music and art to everyone’s lives," says Ruth Daniel, CEO, In Place of War
