
Dolly Parton has covered Tom Petty’s “Southern Accents”
Dolly Parton has shared a rendition of the 1985 song "Southern Accents" which features on the forthcoming tribute album, Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty.
The tribute album features the likes Willie and Lukas Nelson, Steve Earle, Rhiannon Giddens, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Midland, Margo Price, and is executive produced by George Drakoulias, Randall Poster, and Scott Borchetta.
“I was fortunate enough to get to know Tom over the years,” Parton said of the cover. “He’s such an iconic artist and important songwriter. I’m so honored to be a part of this special album and to be able to share my version of one of Tom’s best songs, ‘Southern Accents.’”
Dolly Parton recently featured on Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter, appearing on the songs “Dolly P” and “Tyrant". Beyoncé also shared a cover of Parton's 1973 hit, "Jolene".
Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty will be released on 21 June via Big Machine Records.
