DJ_Dave plots first headline tour to coincide with Hardcore Software release on Mad Decent
With her debut album Hardcore Software arriving 2 October, DJ_Dave has also confirmed the Hardcore Software Tour, which opens at El Rey in Los Angeles on 1 October, then hits San Francisco, New York and Montreal before she joins horsegiirL’s Nature Is Healing tour as support through November and December.
The announcement follows the video single “Next to U”, a track whose hook arrived by accident when Dave mistyped a single comma inside Strudel, the live coding environment she uses to trigger every sound in real time. It aligns with the rejection of sanitised output she associates with AI-generated music.
“Tech just felt a lot more fun when I was younger,” she told MusicTech recently. “We as a society have been purposefully pulled away from our own power. I mean, I know this kid who made his own WiFi router – that is the type of shit that really excites me about technology. It’s putting technology back in our hands and making it fun again.”

A self-taught coder who switched from fashion studies after an algorave course, DJ_Dave has spent the past few years carrying live coding from Brooklyn DIY spaces to festival stages at Portola and Nuits Sonores, while remixing Tove Lo, Channel Tres and Pearly Drops. She self-produced her 2023 EP Intercell entirely in code, filmed the process to share her methods, and has drawn co-signs from Grimes and Kero Kero Bonito.
Pre-sale sign-ups for the headline dates opened on 24 July, with pre-sale tickets going live on 29 July and general sale following on 31 July. Full routing and tickets are available via her website.
