DITZ examine the commodification of queer culture on new single, "Four"
DITZ have shared new single "Four", which is taken from their forthcoming second studio album, Never Exhale.
"The lyrics refer to the commodification of queer culture. These big corporations are always trying to score points with the widest audience possible. Whether it’s drag queens advertising fast fashion or gay CEO’s, I see all of these people as sell outs," says singer C.A. Francis.
"Do you think Divine would have advertised for H&M? Do you think Alan Turing would have been high up in some Silicon Valley tech company? Do you think James Baldwin would have written for Pink News? I doubt it. I think we should claim some dignity back. Then again, maybe I’m a cynic. Maybe it’s a sign of acceptance that queer people can be the villain rather than just some oppressed class. It just doesn’t sound like the kind of acceptance that I think is acceptable."
Following debut The Great Regression released in 2022, the forthcoming album, Never Exhale, was created mostly between touring. In celebration of its release, the band will tour the UK/EU performing in places such as Lisbon, Barcelona, Berlin, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Leeds, Glasgow, Brighton, Sheffield, and Norwich, as well as a headline at The Garage in London on 3 April 2025.
Never Exhale is set for release on 24 January 2025 via Republic Of Music/Domino Publishing. Visit ditzband.com for more information on their tour dates.
